Protect Our Winters x Whitecap

Partnering to Support Protect Our Winters Canada

Whitecap Alpine lives and breathes outdoor adventure. The environment in which we recreate and share with our guests is important not only for fun, health and connection, but also for business. Spending the last 30 years in the mountains has allowed us to document, first hand, the change in climate and the negative effects it is having on the natural world that we so heavily depend on. We believe our love of adventure in nature demands our participation in the fight to save and protect it. This is why we have decided to collaborate with Protect Our Winters Canada.

Protect Our Winters Canada is a non-profit organisation that is made up of a passionate community of enthusiasts, professional athletes and industry brands uniting to advocate for climate change policy solutions. The future of outdoor recreation, snow sports in particular, will not fare well with the current climate change trends and predictions. Yet, there is power in numbers and we believe that these trends can be bucked if enough people, businesses and organisations take action. Our goal is to educate our guests about the changing alpine environment in which we work and recreate and as a business take decisive actions towards the issue of climate change.

Whitecap Alpine will put our money where our mouth is by matching our guests’ donations to POW Canada – up to $2,000 CAD per year. If other backcountry lodges and guiding businesses follow suite, we predict that this pledge could snowball into a large financial support system for POW Canada and allow them to increase their reach and influence in the political sphere.

Donations will go towards Hot Planet Cool Athletes. This is the charitable branch of POW Canada and funds the organisation’s programs and operations, such as regional chapters, events, operational costs, andtheir Hot Planet Cool Athletes educational programs.
