This trail is designed to welcome hikers of all skill levels. Around 90% of the trail is considered easy, making it accessible to hikers of various ages and fitness levels. Kids as young as four and even folks in their eighties have successfully completed it. Covering a distance of 2.5km, with an elevation gain of 200m (one way), this trail promises a rewarding journey from the lodge to the sauna.
Get ready to be captivated by the breathtaking natural scenery along the way. The trail starts with a leisurely walk through wildflower meadows. You’ll gradually ascend through a beautiful sub-alpine fir forest as you continue.
The surroundings transform as you reach a stunning bowl at the treeline, where the sauna is located. While most of the trail is easy, there is a short steep section. Don’t worry; we’ve added rope railings for extra support.
For those seeking more adventure, we offer an extended route. This option takes you on a longer journey via the historic Telegraph Trail, which leads to the approach up Home Run with an initial ascent of Ruthie’s Peak. Once you reach the summit, prepare to be amazed by panoramic views that will take your breath away.
From there, a thrilling ridge walk leads you to an optional second summit, offering an exciting and unique experience. While this section might sometimes feel challenging and exposed, the incredible surroundings make it well worth it.
The extended route extension adds approximately 4.5km and 500m of elevation gain to your adventure. After descending from the second summit, you’ll reach a wide col with a choice to make. Finally, the trail guides you down from the col, leading you through impressive boulder fields until you reach the sauna.
You can expect to warm up in this custom-built masterpiece once you reach the sauna, regardless of your chosen approach. Located on a rocky outcropping on an alpine lake, you can dive straight into the lake for a cold plunge before laying out in the sun for some much-deserved relaxation. There’s no better way to reset your legs for another day of hiking than with a little sauna and lake session.
